It's about time Consumer Reports included Trader Joe's as a national brand. We were thrilled to read Trader Joe's cereals and granolas were evaluated and scored so well in the September 2006 issue of Consumer Reports.
Granola Accolade
Trader Joe's Just the Clusters Maple Pecan cereal scored CR's highest rating. "They're fresh, crunchy, flavorful, and like all the tested granolas, made with whole grain. They have more fiber than many others."
Move over, Tony the Tiger
Consumer Reports states that sales of private-label cereal, like Trader Joe's account for 10% of the cereal market, up 3.8% from 2004 to 2005. One reason for this is the significant price gap. Trader Joe's brands were 25-50% cheaper than national brands with comparable flavors.
Trader Joe's Toasted Oats cereal got a "good" rating from CR as did Trader Joe's Mini-Wheats.
