Back in March, I posted my review of Trader Joe’s Banana Crisps praising their sweet taste, satisfying starchiness and crispy lightness. I marvelled how amazing these “banana babies” were what with the 40 calories and 1 gram of fat per one ounce serving (2/3 cup). Since that time, many fans posted their own fondness for these treats as well as a healthy dose of suspicion regarding the packaging. Turns out, results from 2 independent labs (one of which I called personally) show these crisps actually have FOUR times the calories and SIX times the fat. We called headquarters and received the following statement from a Trader Joe’s representative: “Trader Joe’s voluntarily removed off shelves all banana crisps due to a nutritional content mislabeling on the package. The banana crisps will return shortly once the nutritional panels are updated. Customers are welcome to return this product to any Trader Joe’s location for a full refund or exchange.”
