Banana Crisps Fright

Back in March, I posted my review of Trader Joe's Banana Crisps praising their sweet taste, satisfying starchiness and crispy lightness. I marvelled how amazing these "banana babies" were with the 40 calories and 1 gram of fat per one ounce serving (2/3 cup).

Since that time, many fans posted their own fondness for these treats as well as a healthy dose of suspicion regarding the packaging. Turns out, results from 2 independent labs (one of which I called personally -- CompuFood in Ohio) show these crisps actually have FOUR times the calories and SIX times the fat.

Trader Joes Pulls Bagged Spinach

To ensure that no bacteria-ridden products were sold at Trader Joe's, the company pulled all bagged fresh spinach from their shelves and issued a statement:

``Trader Joe's takes the safety of our customers very seriously . . . We instructed all of our stores to pull from sale every one of our bagged fresh spinach salads, all bagged salad mixes containing fresh spinach and all ready to eat products containing fresh spinach. Shouldcustomers have any of these products, they are encouraged to return themto Trader Joe's for a full refund.''
