Stuffed Poblano Peppers

These, as a newbie on TJ’s shelves, have been mentioned in the forums a couple times, so I thought I’d finally sit down and write up a review on them. The box notes in large letters “WITH CHIPOTLE SALSA”. I had no idea these were vegetarian until after eating them. In very small print on the bottom is “Meatless and Gluten Free” as if that’s not the point (ie. the Chipotle Salsa is more important). Anyways, this is TJ’s second stuffed pepper item as far as I’m aware, the other being the fresh turkey stuffed red peppers. These are poblanos, which are slightly hotter than the no-heat bell peppers. These are really good–very thick and rich, no runny sauce to deal with, and despite the chipotle, I don’t find them overly spicy and think most people could tolerate them. The “stuffing” is really a good clone of ground beef–could probably fool a lot of non-vegetarians. If you eat both peppers, or servings, total kcals is 380, and it’s quite filling. I have yet to try these oven-baked, but the microwave directions are off, instructing heating on high for 5-5.5 min. I get better results by nuking at defrost for about 4 minutes, then heating on high for 4-5 min.
